Woman dies in vehicle-pedestrian collision on Saturday

The Sierra Vista Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on Saturday night in the area of the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 92.

SVPD and Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at about 7:31 p.m. on Saturday. It was determined that an on-duty Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputy struck 60-year-old local resident Reyna Vos while Vos was in the roadway. She was not in a designated crosswalk.

The deputy and witnesses attempted life-saving measures until Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services arrived, however Vos died at the scene. Multiple witnesses who were driving behind the deputy for at least one mile before the collision stated the deputy’s driving was not erratic or concerning. The deputy was not driving Code-3 with lights and sirens.

SVPD Special Operations Bureau detectives are investigating the collision.
