The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force made two DUI arrests during a saturation detail conducted in the Willcox area on Saturday, Oct. 2, due to Rex Allen Days weekend.
The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Benson Police Department, and Willcox Police Department. The detail resulted in the following: 133 traffic stops or contacts, 13 warnings or repair orders, 18 civil speed citations, 11 miscellaneous civil citations, one distracted driving warning for use of a cell phone, nine seatbelt citations, four designated drivers, two criminal speed arrests, two reckless driving arrests, one miscellaneous criminal arrest, one super extreme misdemeanor DUI arrest, and one felony aggravated DUI arrest.
The average blood alcohol content on the DUI arrests was 0.158, just under twice the legal limit of 0.08.
With the continuous support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force reminds drivers that if you choose to drive hammered, you will get nailed. Get a designated driver, not a DUI!
