SVPD arrests second man involved in May 26 shooting

On Monday morning, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a second man who had been sought in connection to a shooting that occurred near the 100 block of El Camino Real on Sunday, May 26.

The SVPD’s Tactical Unit and Special Operations detectives were conducting a follow up investigation to an unrelated incident in the 400 block of South 3rd Street when they came into contact with 25-year-old Sierra Vista resident Demondra Heard on Monday. Heard was identified as the second individual involved in the May 26 shooting. The first individual, 26-year-old Sierra Vista resident Kevin Grayson, was arrested on Wednesday, May 29, for aggravated assault and several drug-related charges.

Heard was arrested at about 9:39 a.m. on Monday, June 3, without incident. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail for misconduct involving weapons/prohibited possessor. He remains in custody on a $50,000 bond.
