Police arrest two on drug charges

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested two Sierra Vista residents on drug and weapon charges early Sunday morning after responding to a report of a domestic violence incident.

SVPD officers responded to the 4200 block of East Busby Drive at about 3:13 a.m. on Sunday. They made contact with two individuals involved in the incident at their apartment. While speaking with the individuals, officers noticed odors of fresh and burnt marijuana coming from the apartment.

The officers received consent to retrieve a partially smoked marijuana joint inside the apartment and observed a handgun in plain view near the marijuana joint. They also saw items that appeared to be related to the packaging and sale of illicit drugs. The apartment was secured and a search warrant was obtained and executed, resulting in the seizure of additional evidence.

SVPD Officers arrested Tony Zeas, a 22-year Sierra Vista man, and he was booked into the Cochise County Jail on the following charges: possession of a narcotic drug for sale possession of a narcotic drug, misconduct involving weapons/possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of any felony offense, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant out of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Officers also arrested Catherine Widhalm, a 21-year-old Sierra Vista woman, and she was booked into the Cochise County Jail on the following charges: possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug, misconduct involving weapons/possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of any felony offense, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Zeas and Widhalm have been released from jail since their arrests.
