The City of Sierra Vista, in partnership with Schneider Electric, is making substantial improvements to the Sierra Vista Golf Center. This project will significantly reduce water use, modernize irrigation infrastructure, and save and create energy. It aims to:

  • Golf Center web squareConserve Natural Resources - Water conservation is at the heart of the project. By replacing high-water-use turf with native grasses and xeriscape landscaping, Sierra Vista will save about 35 million gallons of water each year, while supporting the area's natural environment and wildlife. This will save an estimated $6 million over the lifespan of the improvements.

  • Use Taxpayer Dollars Responsibly - The project is designed to be self-funding, using savings, efficiencies, and revenue generation to support long-term improvements while minimizing impacts on taxpayers.

  • Protect Community Assets - The City stepped in to preserve an important recreational asset and piece of open space when the golf course's future was uncertain and partnered with Paradigm Golf Group to ensure continued operation. This project positions the property to serve the community for many years to come, enhancing a major asset and supporting its use as a golf course for the long term. This helps preserve property values in the area, prevents issues associated with abandoned properties, and supports economic development efforts.

What is the Current Construction Status?

Work to construct solar covered parking at the golf center begins on Monday, Aug. 3. Turf reduction is ongoing and residents will soon see turf in some areas of the course die off. Portions will be replaced with xeriscape and other areas will be seeded with native plants. Please understand the course will look worse before it looks better.
