This year at summer camp, creativity gets its own stage and science gets squishy! The mini camps by Planting Seeds Academic Solutions are designed with a focused burst of fun each day and packed with hands on projects that bring fun with just the right amount of mess.

This year we are offering six weeks of engaging themes in three-hour sessions that will fit perfectly into your summer routine. Program schedule and descriptions are listed below. Registration is required. Register in person at the Oscar Yrun Community Center, by calling (520) 458-7922, or online at WebTrac.SierraVistaAZ.gov

Monday through Friday, $70.00 per participant, 7-12 years old.

Jewelry from the Earth: Crafting with Care

Kids embark on a creative journey in this eco-friendly jewelry-making course. They work with recycled materials and polymer clay to design and customize pieces. Along the way, they will explore their artistic potential while learning art techniques, using eco-friendly practices and materials throughout the creative process.

 

Clay Creations: Sculpting Your Imagination

In this hands-on program, kids will discover the art of working with air-dry clay. They will explore the basics and create their own unique pieces each session. This program is perfect for young artists looking to express themselves through a new medium.

 

Crime Scene Detectives

Experience real-life application in Crime Scene Analysis. Kids will become the center of the action as a CSI agent and conduct forensic science experiments. They will learn how to collect and perform analyses of evidence, record findings, and use critical thinking to find the culprit. They will enjoy the interactive and amazing crime scene reproductions.

 

Slime Science: A Gooey Exploration of Creativity

Get ready for a messy, creative adventure! In this exciting camp, kids will dive into hands-on science and unleash their creativity by making a variety of slimes and concoctions. From stretchy, colorful slimes to fun, unique creations, this camp is the perfect mix of science, play, and imagination. It's a fun way for kids to experiment with textures and colors while learning the magic behind their gooey masterpieces.

 

Songwriters in the Making: Craft Your Own Hits

This fun and interactive songwriting program is designed for young music lovers! This exciting program is the perfect opportunity for kids to explore their creative potential, express their emotions, and learn the craft of writing their own songs. Kids will dive into the basics of melody, rhythm, and lyrics, all while creating original songs that reflect their unique voices. Whether they’re inspired by their favorite artists or their own experiences, this class provides the perfect space to make music their own.

 

Improv Explorations: Unleashing Creative Freedom

This program serves as a creative outlet for kids to explore improvisation in a supportive and structured environment. Together with the instructor, kids will engage in improvisational sketches, collaboratively designing material during the program. The instructor will offer suggestions, but the primary goal is to guide them in selecting their own material, fostering confidence and creativity.

 

Program guidelines:

These programs are device-free so participants can stay engaged and enjoy the experience. Phones, tablets, and other personal electronic devices are not permitted during program hours. All participants are expected to follow staff direction, demonstrate safe behavior, and refrain from disrupting the activities of others.
