The City of Sierra Vista is committed to offering competitive benefit programs
to its employees.

Medical benefits are offered by Ameriben via the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Network; Employee coverage is offered at different tiers/deductibles (from 100% paid by City for the employee). Spouse, child, and family coverage optional for additional cost/month.

Regular full-time employees.
When do benefits become effective?
Benefits become effective on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.
The City offers two medical plans shown below. Cost to the employee are shown as monthly and are divided into two bi- weekly paychecks.

General benefits per City policies and directives:

Retirement: The City participates in state sponsored pension programs through Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) and Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS). Participation in one of the two programs is based on job classification and statutory eligibility requirements. The City contributes to both of these plans on the employee's behalf. Additional information is available on the ASRS and PSPRS plan websites.

Tuition Reimbursement: Full-time employees may request education assistance to pursue a degree program in a City-related field. Tuition for classes in pursuit of an Associate’s degree is available at 100% of tuition. Undergraduate level courses is available at 50% of tuition costs up to $400. Tuition for graduate level courses is available at 50% of tuition costs up to $475. Cost for books and related fees are also paid by the City at 50% with no maximum.

Disability Insurance: City provided personal illness or injury short term disability benefits with 66 2/3% of your income up to $1,700/week. This plan also covers pregnancy. Benefits will continue up to 22 weeks. Long-term disability is also available for qualified employees.
