Man arrested for sexual conduct with a minor

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a 21-year-old Sierra Vista man for sexual conduct with a minor and related charges on Tuesday, Oct. 23, after receiving a report that he was having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old juvenile.

The department received the report from the juvenile’s mother on Monday, Oct. 22. The mother stated her daughter was having a sexual relationship with a 21-year-old man, identified as Jared Johnson. Further information revealed that the relationship started when the juvenile was 16 years old.

With the assistance of detectives from the department’s special operations bureau, SVPD officers executed a search warrant on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the 100 block of North Toscanini Avenue where Johnson resides. Officers discovered several items of evidence in the search.

Johnson was present when the search warrant was executed and was taken into custody at that time. He was booked into Cochise County Jail on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual conduct with a minor, and furnishing harmful items to a minor through personal messaging. Johnson was released from jail on his own recognizance on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
