It is the largest community in Cochise County, with a total population of 129,112.  The City is a great place for young professionals, with 16.9 percent of Sierra Vistans being 25 to 34 years of age, making that the most common age range in the 2010 Census. Approximately 53% of Sierra Vista’s population is aged between 20 and 59, many of whom are highly educated and skilled veterans. The racial composition of Sierra Vista is 74.5% white, 10.7% other, 9% black/African American, 4.1% Asian, 1.1% American Indian or Alaska native and 0.6% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific islander.

The Sierra Vista Police Department is committed to the recruitment and development of highly trained personnel, as well as working with regional organizations and schools to provide crime prevention education and outreach. The SVPD also works in hand-in-hand with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies to ensure residents enjoy a safe environment.
