Four DUI arrests were made by the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force during a saturation detail in Douglas on Saturday, September 28, due to the 95th annual Cochise County Fair.
The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department, Douglas Police Department, Tombstone Marshal’s Office, and Arizona Department of Public Safety and resulted in 23 stops or contacts, 11 warnings or repair orders, one child safety restraint citation, three miscellaneous civil citations, one driving on a revoked driver’s license arrest, one aggravated DUI felony arrest, one extreme DUI misdemeanor arrest, and two DUI misdemeanor arrests.
The aggravated DUI felony arrest was due to the fact two children under the age of five were in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The driver was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI, a Class Six felony in the State of Arizona.
The average blood alcohol content on two of the four DUI arrests was 0.155, just under double the legal limit of 0.08. The remaining DUI arrests required blood draws and the blood alcohol content was not immediately available.
With the continuous support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force reminds drivers that if you choose to drive hammered, you will get nailed. Get a designated driver, not a DUI!
