City seeks input on Veterans Memorial Park Master Plan

Adam Curtis Public Affairs Press Releases

Following its purchase of 20 acres of land adjacent to Veterans Memorial Park last year, the City is seeking input on a master plan for the park that integrates the new property and improves facilities throughout the park.

The property was purchased from the Sierra Vista Unified School District and includes numerous sports facilities located north of the Rothery Educational Service Center. The Veterans Memorial Park Master Plan will provide the framework for how these facilities are renovated and what improvements are made throughout the park in the future.

Residents can review three draft proposals and submit input on the City’s engagement platform at Improvements will be completed incrementally over time based on funding opportunities and other factors.

“With the addition of the sports complex property, we have an opportunity to enhance Veterans Memorial Park as a venue for large public events, a space for competitive sports tournaments, and a place for residents to have some extraordinary fun outdoors,” Leisure & Library Services Director Laura Wilson says.

The acquisition of this property and the development of the master plan carries out strategic objectives set by the City Council. The public input period will remain open through Friday. Feb. 12. Learn more and submit your input at
