City postpones building reopenings

The City of Sierra Vista has closed lobbies that had recently reopened and postponed reopening plans for additional facilities until Monday, June 15,

Today the City learned an employee had been exposed and is following appropriate protocols consistent with its previous actions when other employees reported potential exposure.

Tonight’s City Council meeting will be held via video conference. The public may attend remotely by calling 1-408-418-9388 and using access code 962 041 624. Fees may apply. A link for virtual attendance is available via the event and agenda posted on the City’s website

“Choosing to operate with an abundance of caution, we are closing the lobbies of buildings that were open and postponing the reopening of other facilities so that we can keep staff and the public as safe as possible,” Sierra Vista Mayor Rick Mueller says.

Additional reopenings are now tentatively planned for June 15, including the Cove and Vista Transit Center, which had been set to reopen in limited capacity on Monday, June 1. Outdoor facilities recently reopened remain open for public use including City parks and sports facilities.
