Tennis & Pickleball
Tennis isn’t just great exercise, it is a life-long sport! No matter when you start playing, tennis promotes physical, as well as mental and emotional, benefits, adding years to your life. The sport engages mind and body, and offers opportunities to make and enjoy friendships, have fun, and get a great workout.
Called “a game for everyone,” pickleball combines the elements of badminton, tennis, and ping pong. It is played with solid paddles and a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, and can be played indoors or out. Paddles, balls, and nets can be checked out from Leisure Services at the Oscar Yrun Community Center (OYCC). Watch this short video to learn more about this growing sport with a funny name:

Youth Coed Basketball League
Girls and boys, ages 5-15, get ready for a fun season. The tip-off for the 2017 Youth Coed Recreational Basketball League Program is set for January 23, 2018. Registration is ongoing at all the Oscar Yrun Community Center (OYCC) and the Cove and ends at noon, Friday, December 8, 2017. League divisions are determined by participants’ ages as of December 31, 2017, and through a skill evaluation for certain age divisions. League divisions and fees are as follows:

NOTE: Participants must be registered by noon, Friday, December 8, and attend the scheduled mandatory make-up skill evaluation Saturday, December 16, at 1 p.m. Once a player is registered and has attended the mandatory skill evaluation, he or she is eligible to be selected or drafted on a team. Should the number of registrants exceed the number of available slots, individuals will be placed in the draft or on a team (not requiring a draft) based on date of registration, earliest date to latest date. A wait list will be maintained if slots should become available. High School (AIA) players, upon registering, are NOT to attend the skills evaluation in order to be selected or drafted on a team. Start Smart Sports Camps
Get your little ones started right with Start Smart Sports Camp! These fun camps offer participants ages 3-5 years old the opportunity to develop essential motor skills and help prepare them with tools they need for fun and successful experiences in an organized program. The program builds confidence and self-esteem during impressionable years, when children need it the most. Parents are encouraged to get involved in all features of the camp.
