The Cove offers American Red Cross water safety classes taught by certified instructors. Classes are limited to 4-6 students per instructor, ensuring quality lessons with more personalized attention to each student. The American Red Cross program consists of swimming skills, including basic and competitive strokes, and water safety information at each level.
Dates: Saturdays, June 5 - July 31, 2021 (no class on July 3).

Swim Lesson Evaluations
Swim level evaluations are not available the first day of registration. Please complete an evaluation before registration day to ensure your child gets into the correct level for their skill.
Level 2 (Dolphins) - Level 6 (Sharks) must have either an American Red Cross Certification card that verifies eligibility for the class you are enrolling for, or a swimming evaluation card completed by a Cove staff member prior to registration. Swim evaluations can be done Monday- Friday 4:00pm-6:00pm and Saturday 10:00-2:00.
Waiting Lists and No-shows
Waiting lists will be formed for all levels as needed. We reserve the right to cancel classes that do not have a minimum of three (3) students.
Registration is “first come first served.” Waiting list entries will be called upon to fill spots of “no-shows” after the second day of the session. Registered students who are absent the first two days of lessons will lose their spot. You must give the front desk staff at least 24-hour advanced notice of intent to drop a class to be eligible to receive a household credit or to receive a partial refund.

Online registration will be available for PCA-LTS 1. You can create your own account online or call The Cove for assistance. Please have your ID and password ready before the first day of registration.
Registration will be live at 12:01 a.m. on May 17. Go to WebTrac.SierraVistaAZ.gov to register online. Prior to 12:01 a.m. on May 17, this link will show that lessons are "unavailable." The link will show availability after 12:01 a.m. on May 17.
Parent and Child Aquatics (Starfish)
This class is designed to introduce infants and toddlers to basic water skills while building comfort in and around the water. Skills include the beginnings of breath control, back floating and basic leg and arm actions. Each child must be accompanied in the water by an adult during each class and all skill are assisted.
Preschool Aquatics (Otters)
This class is designed to introduce preschool aged children to basic water skills while building confidence and comfort in the water. Skills include learning breath control, back-floating and basic are and leg actions. Most skills are performed with the assistance of the instructor.
Learn-to-Swim Level 1 (Seals)
This class is designed to introduce children to basic water skills while building confidence and comfort in the water. Skills include learning breath control, back floating, front floating, and basic arm and leg actions. Independence in performing these skills is emphasized.
Learn-to-Swim Level 2 (Dolphins)
Prerequisite: Mastery of Level 1 skills. The skills in this level build on the skills learned in Level 1 and emphasize independence in the water. Skills include combined swimming and rotary breathing, increased swimming distance and introduction of combined arm and leg actions on the back.
Learn-to-Swim Level 3 (Whales)
Prerequisite: Mastery of Level 2 skills. The skills in this level build on the skills learned in Level 2 and emphasize building of endurance while increasing stroke competency. Skills include front crawl with consistent rotary breathing, backstroke development, introduction of breaststroke and butterfly kicking, and introduction to head first entries.
Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 (BAS*)
(*Barracudas, Alligators, Sharks)
Prerequisite: Mastery of Level 3 skills. All 3 levels build on the skills learned and focus on increasing stroke competency and endurance while introducing competitive swimming techniques. Skills include increasing distance for all strokes, open and flip turns, head first entries from the blocks, and full butterfly and breaststroke.
