Ken Kilmurray was appointed in July 2025 to fill the remainder of David Jones' term on the Sierra Vista City Council, which ends on December 31, 2026.
Originally from Southern California, he graduated from the USAF Academy and served 22 years on active duty as a B-52 Master Navigator, test director, and headquarters staff officer. His follow-on career as a program manager in the aerospace sector brought him and his wife, Brenda, to Sierra Vista in 2013. Brenda, a career educator, now supports the US Army training mission on Ft Huachuca.
Having lived across the United States, Ken and Brenda chose Southern Arizona to settle long term, drawn by its exceptional lifestyle and the welcoming community of Sierra Vista. Four of their seven kids, along with three grandchildren, chose to join them here. From the council, he aims to continue the prosperity of their family’s chosen home.
Most days you’ll find him bicycling through our streets or surrounding mountain bike trails (yes, I’m on Strava). An avid outdoorsman, he volunteers with a group of hikers and bikers who maintain those trails for the enjoyment of locals and visitors and supports Arizona Trail hikers (Sierra Vista is the southern Gateway Community). Every year he also helps coordinate the Bolt Youth Triathlon, showcasing our community to young people and their families from across the state.
