Brian Miers was appointed to fill the remainder of William Benning’s term on the Sierra Vista City Council, which ends on December 31, 2026.
Born and raised in Texas, Brian first arrived in the area on his 21st birthday back in 1988 when he was assigned to Fort Huachuca as a young soldier in the Army. Brian’s affection for Sierra Vista was literally love at first sight. Since his arrival in 1988, he has lived here a total of 24 years off and on. Most recently, he has lived in Sierra Vista continuously since 2011. Brian likes to say the city put its hooks in him and just won’t let go.
Brian is married to “Mrs. Karina” who has taught literally hundreds of Sierra Vista’s youth to play piano over nearly two decades – those who are affectionally known around town as her Little Mozarts. Brian and Karina have four adult daughters and nine grandchildren (and two goofy golden retrievers). All their daughters attended Buena High School, and two of them are graduates from Buena; classes of 2006 and 2019 respectively.
Brian has soldiered here. He met and married his beautiful Karina here. He raised his family here. He has made the very best friends here. Brian is now a retired federal agent and has fought crime here with both the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security. Brian is excited to give back to a city that gave him so many rich life opportunities.
Brian’s focus will be on city improvements, economic development and citizen safety – all with an eye on fiscal responsibility. He possesses traditional family values and believes strongly in individual rights and freedoms. He aims to be accessible, transparent and visible.
