A barricaded suspect was arrested in a domestic violence incident yesterday after police used less lethal tactics to take him into custody.

On Saturday, August 29, at about 7:45 a.m., police responded to the 90 block of Kings Way for a report of a domestic violence incident. The 911 caller reported that they could hear screaming from inside an apartment.

When officers arrived on scene, they could also hear screaming from the apartment. They made contact with a female occupant and were able to get her to safety. A male occupant subsequently barricaded himself inside the apartment.

The victim was transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment of her injuries.

Due to the circumstances of the case and the barricaded suspect, a perimeter was established and the Regional SWAT Team responded with negotiators. Using less lethal tactics, the male subject was taken into custody. He received non-life-threatening injuries and was medically cleared for incarceration.

The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail for domestic violence charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, preventing the use of 911 in an emergency, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and two failure to appear warrants.
