On Tuesday, May 26, Sierra Vista police arrested both individuals involved in the May 24 shooting near Country Club Park in Sierra Vista.
During the investigation into the incident, the suspect accused of shooting another individual contacted the Sierra Vista Police Department and met with detectives to provide an interview. While both individuals involved in the incident confirmed they met for a gun sale, each individual’s account differed on what happened next. The individual who was shot said that the subject selling the gun had left the gun in his car before the sale was finalized and exited the vehicle before opening fire. The suspect who came forward afterward said that the suspect who was shot had robbed him at gunpoint before later opening fire first.
While there were inconsistencies between the interviews with the suspects directly involved in the incident, both were arrested due to other evidence gathered during the investigation.
The subject who had suffered gunshot wounds was booked into the Cochise County Jail for armed robbery, five counts of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm at a structure, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and endangerment.
The subject who was previously identified as a person of interest was booked into the jail for aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and endangerment.
