SVPD arrests two individuals during SWAT mission

Post Date:05/20/2026 1:53 PM

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested two individuals during a SWAT mission to serve arrest warrants.

On Tuesday, May 19, at about 5:30 p.m., the Cochise County Regional SWAT team responded to the 7300 block of Lariat Road in Hereford to serve arrest warrants on two individuals. Due to an abundance of caution and one of the individual’s history of fleeing from law enforcement, investigators chose to use the SWAT team and issue a shelter in place to the immediate area during the operation.

The two individuals were compliant and surrendered peacefully during the mission, and the shelter in place was lifted once they were in custody.

One was booked into the Cochise County Jail on a warrant for failure to appear out of Maricopa County. The other, who fled detectives during an attempted traffic stop on May 5 and who did not give the passenger a chance to exit the vehicle before fleeing, was booked into the jail on warrants for failure to appear, unlawful flight from law enforcement, endangerment, and unlawful imprisonment.
