At its regular meeting on Thursday, Sierra Vista City Council approved Development Code amendments that will eliminate the use of temporary materials in permanent commercial signage.
The amendments require that permanent signs shall be constructed of durable, weather-resistant materials designed to withstand long-term exposure to sun, wind, dust, and moisture, and give current and new businesses up to one year to comply.
These changes aim to remove blight caused by degrading temporary signage while also recognizing high start-up costs and allowing time for compliance to support the City’s goal of having a business-friendly environment.
