The Sierra Vista Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday, April 7, at the intersection of N. Coronado Drive and Highway 90, resulting in the deaths of two juveniles.
While some records requests are still pending, evidence currently indicates that the driver of the silver sedan suffered a medical emergency that caused the erratic driving observed by witnesses, and which ultimately led to the sedan’s collision with a truck and trailer at the intersection, and a subsequent impact with another vehicle. Collision reconstruction estimated the sedan was traveling approximately 80 mph prior to impact.
The driver of the sedan is still being treated at the hospital and is expected to survive. The occupants of the other vehicles were treated and released that day.
Anyone with any additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Goodman at (520) 452-7500.
