Three-vehicle collision results in two fatalities

Post Date:04/07/2026 12:13 PM

Two juveniles died and one adult was transported for life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 90 and Coronado Drive this morning.

Emergency services responded to a report of a collision at the intersection at about 7:30 a.m. today. The collision involved a white sedan, a white pickup truck pulling a trailer, and a gold sedan. The pickup truck was reported to be rolled over on its side and on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services crews.

During the investigation, Sierra Vista Police Department officers learned that the white sedan was travelling northbound on Coronado Drive, while the pickup truck was travelling eastbound on the Highway 90 Bypass, and the gold sedan was stopped in the westbound left turn lane to turn from Highway 90 onto Coronado Drive.

The investigation found that the white sedan did not stop at the red light and collided with the truck. That collision caused both vehicles to swing around, hitting the gold sedan. The truck then rolled onto its side, facing westbound, and the white car stopped behind it facing south.

Emergency personnel, with the aid of nearby citizens, assisted and treated occupants of the vehicles. A passenger of the pickup was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All three occupants of the white sedan were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The two juvenile occupants were later pronounced deceased at the hospital; the adult was life-flighted to a Tucson hospital for trauma care.

The initial investigation indicates that the driver of the white sedan may have experienced a medical episode, which contributed to the collision.
