Library hosts “Places of America 250” art contest

Post Date:03/04/2026 9:20 AM

The Sierra Vista Public Library is hosting a Capture Our Country! The “Places of America 250” art contest to celebrate the United States’ semiquincentennial.

The contest invites artists from throughout Cochise County to showcase the locations that define the American experience—from the skyline of a bustling city to the quiet beauty of a local park or historic landmark.

To ensure a welcoming celebration for everyone, the contest asks artists to focus their work on landscapes, locations, and geography. The contest will be judged in the age groups of 0-5, 6-11, 12-17, and 18 plus. Winning submissions will be displayed on the library’s art gallery wall throughout July.

The deadline for submissions is June 13, and only physical, non-digital artwork will be accepted. Artists can learn more and get an entry form at the Sierra Vista Public Library or by visiting SierraVistaAZ.gov/America-250.
