SVPD launches Flock Safety transparency portal

Post Date:02/20/2026 1:33 PM

In its ongoing commitment to transparency and public accountability, the Sierra Vista Police Department is providing community access to a transparency portal regarding the department’s use of Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology.

Through the portal, community members can view what the ALPR cameras detect and what they do not detect, which law enforcement organizations have access to data collected by the City of Sierra Vista’s ALPR cameras, and system usage information and activity.

Usage information includes:

  • Data retention timelines
  • The number of ALPR cameras in operation
  • The number of vehicles detected in the past 30 days
  • The number of hot list alerts in the past 30 days
  • The number of searches conducted in the past 30 days

Residents can also find the departmental policies posted on the portal webpage. The policies outline how data is collected, how it may be used, who is authorized to access it, and the criteria for creating investigative hot lists.

This initiative reinforces SVPD’s ongoing commitment to responsible technology use, transparency, and maintaining public trust. Residents can access the portal at www.SierraVistaAZ.gov/Flock-Portal. The public can also attend or livestream the City Council Work Session on Tuesday, Feb. 24, starting at 3 p.m. to hear a presentation on the technology by a Flock Safety representative.
