SVPD urges public to submit feedback through CALEA

Post Date:02/09/2026 2:34 PM

The Sierra Vista Police Department continues to maintain its Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation and urges the public to submit comments through the CALEA online portal.

The purpose of the portal is to ensure overall standards for accreditation are met, increase public transparency, and give partner agencies like SVPD information critical to meeting community needs and improving public safety services. Feedback submitted through the portal goes directly to CALEA, which later sends batches of comment files back to SVPD for review.

In March of 2025, SVPD was awarded its fourth consecutive accreditation. The accreditation process continues with a smaller annual review this March.

"In the last three years that we've been using the public comment portal through CALEA, we've received some invaluable feedback that has been used to sharpen the agency's community policing posture," says SVPD Chief Chris Hiser. "We continue to encourage community members to use the portal to share their experiences and perceptions."

Resident comments submitted through CALEA become the data used to develop strategies for positive public safety outcomes and identify organizational risks, service gaps, and opportunities. The information is reviewed and analyzed to support data-driven decisions and solutions that meet the contemporary challenges facing SVPD and other public safety agencies.

The CALEA online portal is available year-round on the City’s website at www.SierraVistaAZ.gov/our-city/departments/police. To submit feedback that goes directly to SVPD for immediate review, fill out the commendations and complaints form linked on the page.
