As the Sierra Vista Police Department continues to investigate the Feb. 5 death of a homeless man now identified as Thomas Brand, new details have emerged.

SVPD originally located the deceased man near a tent at an apparent homeless camp and circumstances surrounding his discovery were suspicious: the body appeared to be disturbed and personal items had been disrupted or removed from the scene, including a black e-bike.

However, as the investigation progressed, the evidence showed the body was most likely disturbed and his property stolen post-mortem. Though official findings are still pending from the Pima County Medical Examiner, a preliminary medical exam showed no outward signs of physical trauma.
