On Tuesday, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested an individual for failing to register as a sex offender and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, SVPD became aware of a vehicle that had been placed on a hot alert list created by the SVPD associated with a wanted sex offender. After receiving the alert from Flock license plate readers near the intersection of SR 90 and SR 92, officers in the area quickly located the vehicle. Officers positively identified the wanted suspect, conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90, and arrested the suspect.
The investigation into the individual began in early January 2026 after detectives from SVPD’s Special Operations Bureau received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Officers identified the individual involved in the cyber tip and identified that he was residing in the Sierra Vista area. A criminal history check of the individual identified he was required to register as a sex offender in Arizona and had not properly registered.
The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. A cell phone was secured from his person, and an evaluation of the device is pending a search warrant.
