The Joyce Clark Middle School (JCMS) was put on lockdown after reports of a threatening online message.

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, at about 10:20 a.m., the school resource officer at JCMS received a report that a juvenile male student at the school sent a message via Instagram saying he “Needed a school shooting.” The message was reported after the student showed and boasted about it to classmates.

Based on the message, the school was placed on lockdown. Once it was determined there was no immediate threat, the lockdown was lifted.

The student that sent the message was referred for making terroristic threats and disrupting an educational institution.
