Juvenile struck by vehicle, air lifted to a Tucson hospital

Post Date:08/11/2025 12:00 PM

A juvenile was struck by a vehicle this morning while riding a bike to school and was later air-lifted to a Tucson hospital.

On Monday, Aug. 11, at about 7:30 a.m., the Sierra Vista Police Department and Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services responded to an injury collision at the intersection of Coronado Drive and Golf Links Road.

The investigation determined that the juvenile, who was wearing a helmet and riding her bike in the crosswalk, was struck by an adult driving a pickup truck while crossing Coronado Drive. The juvenile was under the truck when EMS arrived and was removed and transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center. She was later air lifted to a hospital in Tucson. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

“It’s imperative that drivers pay close attention not only in school zones, but in areas where children are walking and riding their bikes to schools,” SVPD Public Information Officer Cpl. Scott Borgstadt says.
