The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested two local men after investigating the early morning robbery and assault of a man that occurred in his own home located in the 1500 block of East Busby Drive today.

The initial call came in at about 3 a.m. today and police soon learned that a victim had been held and beaten in his residence and the suspects were fleeing the crime scene. Multiple suspects were reported to have beaten the victim for cash and personal property while one suspect pointed a gun at him.

SVPD officers conducted surveillance on a residence located on South San Paulo Avenue in connection with this incident. A search warrant was later executed at that property. Multiple suspects believed to be present at the property fled into the house and barricaded themselves inside. SVPD Tactical Unit negotiators were able to get the suspects to leave the residence voluntarily.

As a result, at about 6 a.m., Sierra Vista residents Robert Bustamante, 23, and Israel Vasquez, 24, were taken into custody without further incident. They were both charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and misconduct with weapons as a prohibited possessor. Both suspects are being held in Cochise County Jail.

Anyone with information about other suspects who may have been involved in this incident are asked to contact SVPD Detective Sgt. Sean Brownson at (520) 452-7500.
