Sierra Vista, AZ. 07/08/16. The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force made two misdemeanor extreme DUI arrests during a saturation detail conducted in the Sierra Vista area on Saturday, July 2, due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. It also resulted in the following: 92 stops or contacts, 57 warnings, 19 repair orders, five civil speed citations, four designated drivers, one underage minor consumption arrest, and 10 miscellaneous citations. Two individuals were arrested for felony warrants and other arrests were tied to charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of dangerous drugs.
The Sierra Vista Police Department also participated in the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Mandatory Enforcement Reporting Dates Program by reporting miscellaneous traffic stats from July 1 through July 4, due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The following stats were recorded: 77 stops or contacts, two misdemeanor DUI arrests, five civil speed citations, and nine miscellaneous citations. Two of these citations included one underage minor consumption arrest and one ignition interlock device required arrest.
The average blood alcohol content for the DUI arrests over the holiday weekend was 0.233, just under three times the legal limit of 0.08.
