The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force made two driving under the influence arrests during a saturation detail in the Sierra Vista area on Sunday, Dec. 31, due to New Year’s Eve.

The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Huachuca City Police Department.  In addition to the DUI arrests, the detail resulted in the following: 55 stops or contacts, 53 warning/repair orders, five designated drivers, four civil speed citations, and nine miscellaneous citations.

One of the two DUI arrests was a 19-year-old Sierra Vista resident who was charged with extreme DUI (blood alcohol content of .0.15 or greater), DUI (blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater), under the age of 21 DUI, possession of alcohol while under the Age of 21, and open container.

The average blood alcohol content of the two DUI arrests was 0.145, which is nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.

With the continuous support of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force reminds drivers that if you choose to drive hammered, you will get nailed. Get a designated driver, not a DUI!
