The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force made two driving under the influence arrests during a saturation detail conducted in the Sierra Vista area on Saturday, Oct. 28, during the Halloween weekend.

The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Huachuca City Police Department, and Tombstone Marshal’s Office. In addition to the DUI arrests, the detail resulted in the following: 68 stops or contacts, 41 warning/repair orders, seven designated drivers, nine civil speed citations, two seat belt citations, 11 miscellaneous citations, one possession of marijuana/drug paraphernalia arrest, and one aggravated assault on a police officer arrest.

One of the DUI arrests was aggravated due to the driver’s driving privileges being suspended. This arrest resulted in a blood draw; therefore a blood alcohol content is not available. The second DUI arrest resulted in a blood alcohol content of 0.093.

The Sierra Vista Police Department also participated in the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Mandatory Enforcement Reporting Dates Program by reporting miscellaneous traffic stats from Saturday, Oct. 28, to Tuesday, Oct. 31, during the Halloween weekend.  The following stats were recorded: 104 stops or contacts, 66 warning/repair orders, two designated drivers, 13 civil speed citations, five miscellaneous citations, one driving on a suspended driver’s license arrest, and one aggravated assault on a police officer arrest.

With the continuous support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force reminds drivers that if you choose to drive hammered, you will get nailed. Get a designated driver, not a DUI!
