The Sierra Vista Police Department assisted Homeland Security Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents with the arrest of two men on Tuesday evening, including a Sierra Vista resident wanted for kidnapping.

Investigators conducted surveillance of 40-year-old Brian Meyers, who had a felony arrest warrant for kidnapping, and 25-year-old Derek Tessman, also a Sierra Vista resident, in the 100 block of North Garden Avenue. The men were observed traveling through a commercial parking lot, at which point both subjects were taken into custody at gunpoint. The high-risk arrest also included the use of a noise flash diversionary device.

Both subjects surrendered to SVPD officers without incident at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday. It was suspected that the men were carrying drugs, and both men were found to have heroin in their possession.

Meyers was booked into Cochise County Jail on charges of kidnapping, while Tessman faces charges connected to possession of a narcotic drug.
