The Confidence, Accountability, Diversity, Education, and Teamwork (C.A.D.E.T.) Program will run from Monday, June 4, through Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there is no cost to attend. Applications must be submitted to Fire Station 3, located at 675 Giulio Cesare Avenue, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22.
The program is open to 16- to 18-year-old students who are currently enrolled in high school or a GED program and are in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The C.A.D.E.T. program includes five days of interactive instruction and hands-on activities followed by a graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 10. Cadets who complete the program also have an opportunity to apply for a scholarship for fire and emergency medical services college courses.
“In a short time, participants in this program experience many facets of the fire and medical services profession, giving them a real taste of a possible career,” Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services Chief Ron York says. “It’s also a great primer for those moving on to take college level fire and emergency medical technician courses.”
Applications are available at Fire Station 3 or online. For more information, call (520) 417-4400.
