Public invited to learn about proposed redevelopment area

Adam Curtis Public Affairs Press Releases

The City will host a meeting next week to share information, address questions, and solicit input regarding a proposal to designate a corridor extending along Fry Boulevard from Coronado Drive to Buffalo Soldier Trail and along North Garden Avenue as a redevelopment area.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 8, at 11:30 a.m. in Kino Hall, located at 800 Taylor Drive. Staff will present information regarding the proposed redevelopment area designation. Members of the public will also have an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the proposal.

The designation, which is being considered by the Sierra Vista City Council, would enable the City to contribute public funds to help improve the sites of private businesses in the area. The City Council has set aside $50,000 in the current budget year to begin a grant program that would match private investment made by property owners, if the proposal ultimately moves forward.

The City has posted a FAQ regarding the redevelopment area proposal at www.SierraVistaAZ.gov under the “At a Glance” column near the bottom of the homepage.
