Sierra Vista, AZ.  09/02/16. Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services, in partnership with other local agencies, will host A Day of Remembrance for those who lost their lives in the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony will take place at Sierra Vista Fire Station 3, located at 675 Giulio Cesare Ave., on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this ceremony remembering those who were lost and recognizing those who serve our community every day. Speakers will include City of Sierra Vista Mayor Rick Mueller, Sierra Vista Police Chief Adam Thrasher, Fry Fire District Chief Michael McKearney, and Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services Chief Ron York.

The ceremony will be held at the 9/11 memorial that was unveiled at Fire Station 3 last year. This memorial includes a steel I-beam from the World Trade Center recovered from ground zero. The I-beam sits beneath 3,000 steel butterflies, which symbolize the lives lost, while also offering a sense of hope in the face of tragedy.
