Sierra Vista, AZ.  12/01/16.  The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested three men, including one undocumented immigrant, for transporting marijuana for sale following a request to assist the U.S. Border Patrol with a suspicious vehicle located near the Mall at Sierra Vista late Tuesday afternoon.

The police department responded at 4:35 p.m. after Border Patrol agents encountered a Chevrolet Cavalier suspected to be used in the transportation of drugs. When the agents attempted to make contact with the vehicle’s occupants, two of the occupants fled on foot and were later apprehended by agents.

A Sierra Vista Police Department K9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle, which led to a search. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered more than 90 pounds of marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia commonly used to consume heroin.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 18-year-old Pomerene resident Davon Paul Henderson and the passengers were identified as 18-year-old Benson resident Steven Robert Rigney, and Gerardo Celedon Lomeli, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.

SVPD officers arrested the three men on charges of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were booked into Cochise County Jail and are being held on $50,000 bonds.
