The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested the president of the Parent Teacher Student Organization at Joyce Clark Middle School on Monday for felony theft of funds from the PTSO account.

The investigation into this case began on Friday, Feb. 16, when the Sierra Vista Police Department received information regarding the potential embezzlement PTSO funds at the school. Investigators learned that a little more than $4,000 was reported missing and unaccounted for from the PTSO account between December, 2017, and January, 2018. It was discovered that the organization’s debit card was the primary means used to conduct the internal theft.

On Monday, a SVPD detective made contact with 43-year-old Sierra Vista resident Sara Cottem-Dalton, identified as the Joyce Clark Middle School Parent Teacher Student Organization president, and arrested her for felony theft. Cottem-Dalton was booked into Cochise County Jail and was released later that same day.

Anyone with information relevant to this case is asked to contact SVPD Detective John Papatrefon at (520) 452-7500.
