The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a local man for child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor child on Friday, Nov. 17.
SVPD detectives have been conducting an investigation into the child molestation of a juvenile perpetrated by a known Sierra Vista man since March, 2017. Detectives were also aware that the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office had a $50,000 bond felony arrest warrant out for that man, identified as 34-year-old John Lucian Shearer. The warrant was for a 2nd degree burglary charge.
SVPD detectives observed Shearer walking along Fry Boulevard on Friday afternoon at about 3 p.m. They took him into custody for both the local charges and the outstanding warrant.
Shearer was charged with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor child, child molestation, and furnishing harmful items to a minor child. He is being held at the Cochise County Jail on a $10,000 bond for the new charges and a $50,000 bond for the outstanding 2nd degree burglary charge.
