The Leisure Services Department needs many volunteers, from coaching to youth programs, elder assistance to administrative. Opportunities are listed below, and applications are available here.

Seniors Helping Seniors

Do you need help with certain projects? Maybe you need some gardening advice. Looking for a house sitter, or someone to watch the fish? Perhaps you need help grocery shopping, or with trips to the doctor. Then take advantage of our area-wide referral service. The Seniors Helping Seniors Program is designed to match seniors with skills and time with seniors looking for help.

Seniors who would like to be registered for the program should go to the Ethel Berger Center or call and ask to have a job referral form faxed or mailed to them. Persons looking for assistance from the older population can contact the senior division to be matched with a prospective employee. Please make sure before you engage a senior for a job ask “Is this a volunteer job?” or “How much will the entire job cost?”

For more information contact Laura Killberg.

Youth Basketball

Are you interested in coaching in the 2018 Coed Youth Basketball Program? Leisure Sports is looking for more than a few good men and women volunteers (18 and older) who would like to pass along their knowledge, skills, and abilities to our community youth, ages 5 – 15. Please call (520) 439-2275 for detailed information. Volunteer applications are available at all Leisure facilities or can be downloaded here. Please submit volunteer applications directly to the Sports Office in the Ethel H. Berger Center. Applications will be reviewed and team slots assigned based on need as determined by participant enrollment.
