In April, 2015, RegionalCare Hospital Partners opened a new, $100 million, 175,000 square-foot, 100-bed hospital in Sierra Vista. The facility, Canyon Vista Medical Center, is a Level Three trauma center that offers additional beds, services and doctors. RegionalCare has committed $18 million to recruit 25 physicians during the next seven years and hired about 100 new employees when it opened. The teaching hospital serves Southeast Arizona.
Additionally, the many medical office buildings provide a host of medical services from dental and vision care to audiology to cardiology, oncology and many other specialties, as well as general practitioners to keep you and your family healthy. Many of these facilities are upgrading and expanding due to the new hospital.
The Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services department launched a community paramedic program to provide qualifying patients discharged from Canyon Vista Medical Center with Community Awareness, Response, and Education (CARE) via in-home follow-up visits from SVFMS community paramedics. The primary goal of the program is to help patients learn to better manage their health at home and avoid re-admission to the hospital for chronic conditions.
The program’s service area is within the Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services and Fry Fire District response areas, which serve about 62,000 community members.
