Event helps residential refuse customers tackle spring cleaning

City residential refuse customers can get rid of unwanted bulky items, household hazardous waste, and other extra trash for free at Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pedro Castro Maintenance Center, located at 401 Giulio Cesare Ave.

Residential refuse customers should bring a copy of their residential sanitation bill for verification and pre-sort their items for faster service. Materials accepted at the event include: bulky waste and trash, appliances, metal, electronics, tires, batteries, and household hazardous waste like home chemicals, paint, or cleaning products. Each household is limited to bringing in five tires (without rims) and three appliances (must be tagged as certified Freon free).

Materials not accepted include: motor oil, personal documents for shredding, construction debris, hazardous materials not commonly used in the household, and green waste. Green waste can be dropped off at the City’s Compost Facility at 7201 E. Highway 90.

Cochise County residents can take advantage of the county’s upcoming Free Dump Day on Saturday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 7201 Highway 90, mile marker 325.
