Sierra Vista, AZ. 07/15/16. The Arizona Office of Tourism presented the City of Sierra Vista with the 2016 Governor’s Tourism Award for Print Content and Collateral in recognition of the City’s new Adventure Guide this week.
It was one of just nine awards given out at the annual Arizona Governor’s Conference on Tourism Tuesday night and it places Sierra Vista’s new visitors guide among the best marketing pieces in Arizona. The City’s official visitors guide was completely rewritten and redesigned as an “adventure guide” to appeal to modern tourists who are seeking experiential opportunities, instead of just sightseeing.
Using the City’s new brand, the guide showcases the wealth of recreation available in the area through the lens of the City’s new strapline “Extraordinary Skies. Uncommon Ground.” The guide uses compelling images and concise, bite-sized paragraphs to appeal to today’s highly visual, information snacking audience.
“We’re honored to receive such a significant statewide recognition for this widely distributed guide that sets the tone for thousands of people who visit Sierra Vista,” City of Sierra Vista Marketing and Public Affairs Manager Judy Hector says. “The Adventure Guide helps ensure visitors enjoy their time here and get out to experience many of the attractions that make our community a worthwhile destination. This inspires repeat visits and plants the seed that Sierra Vista is a great place to work, retire, and buy a home.”
For the first time, restaurants and accommodations were broken out in a separate companion piece that will be updated more regularly. Now both guides are more user-friendly and the Adventure Guide is more cost-effective thanks to a longer shelf life.
The City’s Adventure Guide is available online at www.visitsierravista.com under the “Free Visitor Info” tab.
