Spring Youth Swim Lessons (April 13- May 18, 2019)

Starfish – Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1 & 2, ages 6 months to 2 years
This class is designed to introduce infants and toddlers to basic water skills while building comfort in and around the water. Skills include the beginnings of breath control, back floating, rolling over from front to back/back to front, and basic leg actions. Each child must be accompanied on the water by an adult during each class.
Otters – Preschool Aquatics Level 1, 2 & 3, ages 3-4 years
This class is designed to introduce pre-school aged children to basic water skills while building confidence and comfort in the water. Skills include learning breath control, back floating, rolling over from front to back/back to front, and basic arm and leg actions, Most skills are performed with the assistance of the instructor.
Seals – Learn-to-Swim Level 1 (ages 5 and older)
This class is designed to introduce children to basic water skills while building confidence and comfort in the water. Skills include learning breath control, back floating, rolling over from front to back/back to front, and basic arm and leg actions. Independence in performing these skills is emphasized.
All children enrolling in LTS Level 2 (Dolphin) or higher need a swim level evaluation or American Red Cross card/certificate stating completion of previous skill levels, or a swimming level evaluation conducted by the Cove staff prior to registration in order to continue at the Seal level. Evaluations can be done on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. or Monday-Friday at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call (520) 417-4800 for more information.
Dolphins – Learn-to-Swim Level 2. Requires successful completion of Learn-to-Swim Level 1 or completed swim evaluation prior to registration.
The skills in this level build on the skills learned in level 1 and emphasize independence in the water. Skills include combined rolling over and back, floating (without instructors assistance) increased swimming distance and introduction of arm and leg actions on the back.
Whales – Learn to Swim Level 3. Requires successful completion of Learn-to-Swim Level 2 or completed swim level evaluation prior to registration.
The skills in this level build on the skills learned in Level 2 and emphasize building of endurance while increasing stroke competency. Skills include front crawl with side breathing, backstroke development, and introduction of breast stroke kicking.
Diving. Requires completion of Whales or evaluation into Whales.
The diving class teaches the fundamentals of diving including skills such as body control, stretching, takeoffs, and basic dives.
Barracuda and Alligator(Learn to Swim Levels 4 and 5)
Barracuda – Learn-to-Swim Level 4. Requires master of Level 3 skills.
Alligator – Learn-to-Swim Level 5. Requires master of Level 4 skills.
Both levels build on the skills learned in previous levels and focus on increasing stroke competency and endurance while introducing competitive swimming techniques. Skills include increased distance for all strokes, open and flip turns, and entries from the side of the pool. These levels will be combined with Level 6 to form the BAS class.
Shark – Learn-to-Swim level 6. Requires fitness swimmer prerequisite mastery of Level 5 skills.
This level builds on the skills learned in Levels 4 and 5 with an increased emphasis on swimming fitness. Skills include increased distance for all stokes, incorporating turns with swimming and increasing knowledge of competitive swimming techniques. This level will be combined with Levels 4 and 5 to form the BAS class.
Youth Group Swim Lessons
The Cove offers American Red Cross classes with certified instructors. Each session consists of eight 30-minute classes. The cost is $55 per child for each eight-class session. Classes are limited to four students per instructor.
Registration is “first come, first served.” Waiting lists are formed for every level. Those waiting for an opening will be called to fill available spots after the second day of the session, and the registration fee will be adjusted to $50 for the six remaining classes. Registered students who are absent without notification for the first two lessons will lose their spot. Participants must give 24-hours notice if they intend to drop from the class in order to receive a household credit or partial refund.
Adult Swim Lessons
If you missed swim lessons as a youth, you can still learn to swim! Adult Swim Lessons: Learning the Basics are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-6:45 p.m., March 5 through March 22, 2019. Cost is $65 per person for eight 45 minute lessons. Learn swimming basics, starting with getting comfortable in the water and learning the basics of each stroke. The class is geared for adults, ages 18 and older. Register online, in person at The Cove, or by calling (520) 458-7922.
Have the swim basics down but need to improve your skills? Enroll in the Adult Swim Lessons: Improving Skills class. Lessons are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-6:45 p.m., March 4 through March 27, 2019. Cost is $65 per person for eight 45 minute lessons. This class builds upon skills learned in the Basics class (or ones you may already know). Improve your skills and swimming strokes. Register online, in person at The Cove, or by calling (520) 458-7922.

Private Swim Lessons
Get individualized lessons based on your needs with private swim lessons taught by American Red Cross Certified WSI instructors. Classes are available for infants, youths, adults, and those with special needs. Lessons are held at a time that is convenient to the both the student and instructor, anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. $30 per person, per lesson.
