Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Certification classes are held throughout the year. With your certification, you can apply for a part-time job—with great pay—as a Lifeguard at The Cove!
You’ll learn CPR/FPR, oxygen administration, AED and first aid. In as little as 34 hours, you’ll be qualified to apply for a job as a fully certified Lifeguard.
Certifications earned include Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED/Adiminstering Emergency Oxygen and Waterpark skills.
Spring 2018 Lifeguard Classes will be held at The Cove from March 12-18, 2018. Candidates must schedule and pass a pretest prior to registration. Cost is $150 per person. Part of the class will be online; classes held at the Cove are scheduled for:
Monday, March 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Friday, March 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 18, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Any individual who successfully completes the course and seeks employment as a Lifeguard with the City of Sierra Vista is eligible for reimbursement of the cost of the course.
Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Must successfully pass a swim pretest in order to register for the Lifeguard class. To schedule a pretest, call (520) 417-4800.
In order to pass the swim test, applicants must be able to swim 300 yards of front crawl or breast stroke in correct form with endurance; swim to and retrieve a 10-pound weight from a depth of 8 feet of water, then return to the starting point on your back with the weight in one minute, 40 seconds, and be able to tread water for two minutes without using your arms.
