Each year, Sierra Vista Fire & Medical offers a Citizens Fire Academy and a youth program called CADET. For information about the Citizens Fire Academy program, contact Patti Cluff.
Citizens Fire Academy
The Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is designed to provide the community with information on the organization and operation of Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services. The CFA is open to persons 18 and older who either work or live in the City of Sierra Vista. The nine-week class will meet one night per week from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M at the Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services Station #363 classroom, located at 675 Giulio Cesare Ave. There is no cost to participants and class size is limited to 12. Each night of class, participants will receive information on the different aspects of Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services including the hiring and training of personnel, fire investigation and emergency medical services. Additionally, CFA participants will have the opportunity to spend time at the fire stations and ride along to emergency calls. The Citizens Fire Academy begins in August.
Instilling Confidence, Accountability, Diversity, Education, and Teamwork, the CADET program is designed for youth ages 16 to 18 who are currently enrolled in a high school or GED program. This fire and EMS academy-style program introduces youth to the public services provided by fire and emergency medical service personnel. Held in June, the program invests in high school age youth through mentorship and encouraging positive character growth while providing insight into the field of emergency medical and fire services.
