A building permit is required for new construction or when there is an addition or alteration to residential or commercial main structure or an accessory structure. It’s simple, it’s fast, and worth the extra steps to know the work was done correctly.
Building Permit Applications and Inspection Scheduling
You can apply for building permits two ways: Using the telephone, email and/or paper, or apply online. To apply online, click the button below to access the Sierra Vista Self Service site. Do not upload any documents during the online permitting process. Please call Community Development at (520) 417-4413 prior to emailing plans.
You’ll need a user name and password to apply for a permit online. Get started by calling Community Development at (520) 417-4413, then click the button below.
To apply with a paper application, download the application you need below and bring it to Community Development in City Hall, 1011 N. Coronado Drive, or email it to Planning@nullSierraVistaAZ.gov

Call (520) 452-7019 to schedule an inspection.
Whether you request an inspection online or by phone, the inspection request must be received by 5:00 p.m. the day prior to inspection. Any after-hours messages will not be scheduled for the next business day. Inspections are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Sorry, no same-day inspections.
