The City of Sierra Vista is now accepting applications for its Community Development Block Grant Emergency Repair Program for owner-occupied homes with substandard housing conditions.
To be eligible, applicants must meet low and moderate-income standards, as required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Applicants must also have owned and lived in their homes as their primary residence for the year preceding qualification for the program.
Emergency repairs under the program are limited to issues that affect the habitability of the home such as: lack of running water, electricity, or heating/cooling; leaking water lines, gas lines, or fixtures; or deficiencies posing an immediate safety risk. Accessibility modifications needed for the elderly or disabled are also eligible under the program.
Each household can receive a maximum of $7,500 in assistance under the program currently authorized for this fiscal year which ends June 30, 2018.
