Sierra Vista, AZ. 12/07/16. Area high school juniors and seniors are invited to apply for an exciting opportunity to learn about leadership, community building, and achieving their goals.
In its second year, the Limitless Sierra Vista Teen Leadership Conference will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sierra Vista Public Library. Selected in a competitive application process, up to 50 area juniors and seniors will participate in a variety of programming including motivational talks, interactive breakout sessions, and group exercises.
There is no cost for attendees and breakfast and lunch are provided. Applications are due by Friday, Jan. 13. One applicant will receive a $1,000 scholarship based on the personal essay submitted with his or her application.
“Last year’s participants walked away feeling empowered and gained a better understanding of how to realize their dreams. This conference also fosters a sense of civic engagement and seeks to inspire our future leaders to make a difference in their community,” says Library Manager Emily Scherrer, adviser of the conference.
Application forms are available on the City’s website, www.SierraVistaAZ.gov, by searching for “Limitless.” They can also be picked up at the Sierra Vista Public Library or the Sierra Vista Teen Center.
